Nancy Ortiz is currently a senior at UC San Diego. She visits Broad Avenue annually to speak to 5th grade students about her college experience and traveling abroad.

Chestan James is a high school senior at Harbor Teacher Prep Academy. He is actively involved in a community service group at his school known as Harbor for Hungry.

On March 28, Chestan and other members of this group came to Broad Avenue and taught Mrs. Ahle's third grade students a lesson titled "Healthy Eating." The lesson educated and encouraged healthy eating habits and communicated an awareness of local services that provide nutritious food for the needy in our community.

Chestan James is a former student of Mrs. Ahle. He was awarded a full scholarship, and he will be attending Northwestern University in the fall (2017).

     Adrian Perez played two years at LA Harbor Community College. He recently accepted an offer to play at University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. As a first baseman for LA Harbor CC, he logged 15 RBI and five doubles in 2016. He led the team in fielding percentage, fielding .984, making just four errors in 253 chances. Congratulations Adrian!

Long Beach City College student Yuri Chavez continues to give back to Broad Avenue. In March, Yuri visited Ms. Chavez's kinder students and engaged them in a science lesson.
